VM Oceanica is developing research work aiming at collaborating with the oceanographic community in the development of next-generation self-consistent geodetic-ocean circulation models, next-generation multi-satellite altimetry products, and their merger with efficient and lighter data assimilation methodologies than is available today. The first step is to get engaged in evaluating what is the present pre-GOCE state-of-the-art in geodetically-determined Mean Dynamic Topographies as related to mean upper-layer ocean circulation patterns at eddy-resolving scales, obtained from in situ data.
